We’re fairly sure we were only making our New Year’s Resolutions a matter of months ago and yet somehow here we are, the end of the Tough Mudder UK season.
In true Tough Mudder fashion there have been surprises every step of the way. What hasn’t been a surprise though is the mud, the obstacles and the epic teamwork that Mudder Nation bring to every event.
Let’s celebrate 2018 with a run through some of our favourite moments from this year.
1. Tough Mudder Came to the City
In the UK this year we launched a brand spanking new format. It was shorter, it was dryer and it was…mudless. A Tough Mudder with no mud? We hear you.
We partied in London, Edinburgh, Manchester and Bristol and with no mud or water once Mudders had taken on the course, there was no reason not to hang out and celebrate with their teams. Cue some of the best vibes in Mudder Village we’ve ever seen.
2. We Held The First Ever UK Beta Testing
It may have only just happened and we know we’re keeping pretty tight-lipped on it all but we’re pretty damn excited that for the first time ever we held an obstacle beta testing in the UK.
Our obstacle innovation team put some serious graft in to bring some incredible designs to life (including the winner of the obstacle design competition) and we know that 2019 is going to be jam-packed full of new obstacle action (yes we’re bringing 10 new or updated obstacles to EVERY course).
3. Beloved Obstacles were Reborn
At the beginning of 2018 The Vault was cracked open and we saw years of obstacle innovation spill out. You voted and some of your favourite obstacles made a return to course.
Together we faced our fears in Cage Crawl, got out of our comfort zone on Walk the Plank, encouraged our teammates through Boa Constrictor, got a serious shock from Electric Eel and practiced our dance moves on Twinkle Toes.
4. Born Barikor Became Our Official UK Trainer
We know it’s hard to believe but the face of Workout Wednesday, the man who answers all of your training queries only became our Official UK Trainer in 2018.
Over the last 12 months he’s helped us to create an unbelievable number of training videos, offered his advice on everything from how to do pull ups to how to start running and, maybe most importantly, he’s been out on course tackling obstacles and helping Mudders.
5. The Obstacle Design Competition Winner was from the UK…Again
There must be something in the water because for the second year in a row it was a Mudder from Scotland who created the winning obstacle design.
We received hundreds of entries across the US, UK and Germany but Tipping Point by Peter Duncan was chosen by our innovation team for its uniqueness and ability to inspire both fear and fun.
