Tough Mudder City

A Tough Mudder event isn’t only awesome because of the fun obstacles and party vibes, it’s also slap bang in the middle of some of the most incredible cities in the world.

Not got your ticket for Tough Mudder Manchester yet? Book your spot on course today.

5 Things to do Before Your Run

Moose Coffee – York House, 20 York Street, Manchester, M23BB

Travel time: 30 min bus/car

The closest you’ll get to Canada, outside Canada. If you’re looking for a Canadian themed brunch location, then look no further than Moose Coffee! One of the most popular locations in the city, head here for an extra-large serving of bacon pancakes, serrano ham eggs benedict and the best waffles I’ve ever eaten.

Chapter One Books – Chatsworth House 19 Lever St, Manchester, M1 1BY

Travel time: 30 mine bus/car

This cute independent book shop is located in the city’s Northern Quarter by the Piccadilly Gardens, and if you love everything books, this is the place for you! Their café serves up plenty of coffee, drinks and cakes (including vegan options!) whilst surrounded by fountains, plants and a balcony book boudoir, a book lovers dream.

Alberts Schloss -27 Peter St, Manchester, M2 5QR

Travel time: 30 min tram

A German beer hall, Alberts Schloss is an enigma that keeps on giving! Head here for brunch and grab some avocado toast and a coffee, have a bratwurst for lunch or celebrate with their famous cocktails and watch some live music in the evening! There’s nothing quite like the atmosphere in here, as someone who loves visiting Germany, Alberts Schloss is like a mini break to Bavaria over brunch.

Northern Quarter – 37 Lever St, Manchester, M1 1LW

Travel time: 30 min bus/car

As someone who has explored Manchester thoroughly, there is nothing quite like the Northern Quarter. Full of independent shops, vintage stores and some incredible restaurants, you can spend a morning here dipping in and out of shops with a chai latte in hand. (I recommend visiting Fred Aldous, it’s basically a never-ending craft store filled with the best birthday cards you’ll ever find).

The John Rylands Library – 150 Deansgate, Manchester, M3 3EH

Travel time: 30 min bus/car

One for both the history and Harry Potter lovers, John Rylands Library is situated in the heart of the city in Spinningfields, and right next door to the ever-popular Australasia restaurant. A visit to the library is free, and the architecture is just like you’ve stepped into Hogwarts! They have some really interesting little exhibits, and it’s the perfect way to spend an hour or 2, especially if it decides to rain!

5 Things to do After Your Run

Comedy Store Manchester – 3, 4, Arches, Deansgate Locks, Whitworth St W, Manchester M1 5LH

Travel time: 35 min tram

With comedy shows 4 nights of the week and the ‘Best in Stand Up’ on Fridays and Saturdays, the Comedy Store is the only comedy show I’ve watched and could not stop laughing throughout. If you love quick moving comedy and numerous acts in one night, plus the option to buy a pizza at the bar to bring to the show with you (which looked absolutely amazing) then make sure to book a ticket to a show! Make sure you book early, they always sell out.

Cloud 23 – Beetham Tower, 303 Deansgate, Manchester M3 4LQ

Travel time: 45 min tram

Cloud 23 is a cocktail bar based in the Deansgate Hilton, which, as you can guess, is on floor 23. Another one to book ahead of time (and request a window seat) will leave you with the best views of Manchester and some beautiful cocktails! If drinking isn’t your thing, you can also book a table for afternoon tea where you’ll sit proudly in your velvet seat looking over the panoramic views of the city.

Tattu – 3, 4 Hardman Square, Gartside Street, Manchester M3 3EB

Travel time: 40 min tram

One of the most beautiful dinner spots in the city, Tattu serves up modern twists on Chinese food with a backdrop of a huge cherry blossom tree! Order a mix of their small plates, I love the ‘Chicken Truffle Shumai’ and ‘Chicken Satay Lollipops’, with a ‘Skull Candy’ bubble gum cocktail (complete with dry-ice!).

All Star Lanes – The Great Northern, 235 Deansgate Manchester, M3 4EN

Travel time: 40 min tram

Not just any bowling lane, All Star Lanes is more of an experience! With bowling pins signed by the likes of Rihanna, Lady Gaga and the Inbetweeners cast, you’ll fall in love with the slick interior, lovely staff and pun-laden cocktail names! If you’ve also always wondered where you can bowl and eat lobster in the same venue, this is your place.

Almost Famous – Unit 2, Great Northern, Peter Street, Manchester, M3 4EJ

Travel time: 25 min bus/car

Three words: Deep-Fried Bacon. Almost famous are dubbed as having the best burgers in Manchester, and I can’t disagree. Head up to the bar before your meal if you fancy some of their iconic cocktails. The ‘Cherry Bomb’, which even includes fireworks as an ingredient, need I say more? Order the ‘Unfairground’ burger with a side of ‘Phoenix Fries’ and thank me later.

There’s so many things to do in Manchester around your event, whether you take on the 5K or 10K. We’ll see you on the Tough Mudder course.
